Our Bike Techs have designed the bike brackets to be centered every 12″ when space is tight. We alternate the heights of the #42488 brackets 64″ & 74″ from the cushioned bike hook to the floor. If the bike room is initially spacious we suggest spacing the bike brackets on 24″ centers all at 74″ from the cushioned bike hook to the floor. Then when additional bike brackets are needed they can be installed in between the existing bike brackets at 64″ from the cushioned bike hook to the floor. The above layout suggestions have worked well in hundreds of bike rooms.
If the walls are sheet rock in good condition toggles can be used to install the bike brackets 1/4″ x 4″ with washers. Aluminum shields work well with concrete walls and some cinder block walls. if the walls are not in great condition, Consider adding plywood supports over the bike walls for secure anchoring (see pics on this post. 24″ high x 2″ thick is ideal.
